Dr. Pillard was born and raised in Cambridge, MA. After high school, she spent a few years in California before returning east to complete her undergraduate degree at UMass with a focus on Women and Healthcare. Unsure of whether or not to pursue medicine, Vicky worked before, during and after college in a variety of human service positions - including as an organizer for the United Farm workers union, a coordinator of a food program for low income elders, a teacher in a preschool, a social issues educator for college students, and counselor at a rape crisis center. She considered becoming a therapist and to that end she completed a Masters degree at Harvard University with a focus on counseling and consulting psychology. Dr Pillard finally realized that being a doctor would allow her to combine her interests in physical as well emotional wellness.

Like the other providers at HPA, Dr. Pillard loves her job and feels privileged to provide care, education, and support to parents and their children. She finds the diversity within pediatrics to be especially stimulating and engaging and enjoys the resiliency and humor of children and the love and commitment of their parents. She especially appreciates that the job of being a primary care pediatrician involves education and prevention as well as healing.

Dr. Pillard is board certified by the American Board of Pediatrics and is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics. She is credentialed at Baystate Children’s Hospital, and is an adjunct staff member at Boston Children’s Hospital. She is the Treasurer for HPA’s Reach Out and Read Program. She has two children - a daughter and son and is very close to her extended family. Her hobbies include swimming, hiking, gardening, knitting, reading and spending time with family and friends.

Dr. Pillard sees patients 3 days in the South Hadley office.  She sees patients 1-2 times a month in the Holyoke office.  She is accepting new patients.
