When Do I Need to Seek Medical Help?

Please Call Us If Your Child Has Flu-like Symptoms AND

... your child is less then two or  your child has a certain chronic disease. Your child may benefit from Tamiflu, a perscription anti-viral medicine that may help reduce complications when used during the first 1 to 2 days of symptoms. The chronic diseases that may benefit from Tamiflu include chronic lung disease, asthma, cerebral palsy, diabetes, kidney disease, heart disease, cancer and HIV;

OR


... your child experiences these signs of flu complications:

fast or troubled breathing,
blue or gray skin color,
severe or persistent vomiting,
not drinking or urinating,
extreme irritability,
not waking or interacting as usual, or
a recurrence of fever after it has been absent for a day (for example if your child had a temp of 101 for several days and now its 103 degrees)

If your child falls into one of these high-risk groups or you think your child has another illness that places your child at high risk of flu complications, please call us.
