Dr. Norton was born in Detroit, Michigan and grew up outside Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.  He received his undergraduate degree (magna cum laude) from Georgetown University and his medical degree from Yale University School of Medicine. He completed his pediatric residency at the University of California in San Francisco, and was in practice in Marin County, California for several years before moving to the Pioneer Valley. Before coming to HPA, he was in practice in Ware, Mass. at Quabbin Pediatrics, and worked in the Baystate Pediatric Residency teaching clinic in Springfield. He previously worked at Medical West in Chicopee.

Dr. Norton has particular interests in public and international health, vaccines and preventive care. He is a member of the Massachusetts State Immunization Advisory Committee and is a member and former Chair of the Massachusetts Medical Society Committee on Public Health. For years he has been an active member of the Massachusetts State Immunization Advisory Committee, and he is presently a member of the Governor-appointed State Vaccine Purchase Committee. He is also an active member of the Mass Medical Society Committee on LGBT Matters and is State Co-Coordinator for the American Academy of Pediatrics office-based research network (PROS).  He is board certified in pediatrics and a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics.

Since 1993 Dr. Norton has volunteered annually with ReSurge (www.resurge.org  -formerly called Interplast).  ReSurge is the oldest volunteer plastic surgical volunteer organization in the world, providing free plastic and reconstructive surgery in developing countries around the world. The Mission of the Organization is to not only to provide life-changing surgery to children and adults in the developing world, but also to train physicians and nurse colleagues to enable them to provide these procedures.  Dr. Norton is chair of the Pediatric Committee of the organization and is a member of the Board of Directors. With ReSurge he has worked in Peru, Mexico, Honduras, El Salvador, the Dominican Republic, India and Vietnam.  He is also involved in coordinating an elective international health program for the pediatric residents at Baystate Medical Center.

Dr. Norton has three grown children and lives in Hadley. Outside the office, he is an avid gardener, birdwatcher, and Morris Dancer, and is learning to play the fiddle.

Dr. Norton sees patients 3 days a week in our Holyoke office and 1 day a week in our South Hadley office.  Dr. Norton is fluent in Spanish.
