Betsy A. Brooks, MD (primary location: South Hadley office)
Dr. Brooks received her undergraduate degree in Biochemical Sciences (Cum Laude) from Harvard University and her medical degree from Harvard Medical School. She completed her Internship in pediatrics at Johns Hopkins Medical Center, and her Residency in pediatrics at the University of Massachusetts. Dr. Brooks is Board Certified by the American Board of Pediatrics and is a member and Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics. She is a Clinical Assistant Professor at Tufts Medical School. She has served as a volunteer in the Health Policy Division of the Children's Defense Fund, in Washington, D.C. and as the District Representative for Western Massachusetts in the Massachusetts Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics. She is involved in the teaching program at Baystate Medical Center.
Dr. Brooks was originally drawn to research in molecular biology. She decided to become a pediatrician after working as a Schweitzer fellow in Lambarene, Gabon, West Africa. She moved to the area in 1984, and has been at Holyoke Pediatrics ever since.
Dr. Brooks is married, with two older teen children. She enjoys tennis, travel, hiking, cooking, gardening, and reading. She is also interested in the politics and financing of health care for children. |
